I want to play them in order, but I was wondering just what was and if there was a difference between Mother 1 and Earthbound Zero.

This hack attempts to remedy this by quadrupling experience, doubling money, and reducing the random encounter rate by approximately half.

But what I dmiforce to fans of the series is that you should play whatever version you want you want to play. Also, apparently the Earthbound Zero roms that have "Zero" written in White have anti-piracy and cannot be completed while those with the word Zero written in Blue has no AP and can be completed.

I should try booting it up again sometime. I believe it had something to do with the japanese text? In fact I think these patches make the original play much more like the heavily improved and superior Mother 2 and 3 which is always a plus in my book. But then, nobody in my family really a gamer, and my friends in the know play it normally but have difficulty with it.

Mother 1 has an English re-trans by Tomato world class translator and is a great version, Mother 2 has basic translation only and is a bad port anyway.
